Today I was in the ophthalmology department from 8:55 till 5:05. I was happy to be in a department that I understood! Every time Dr. Stine would prescribe something for a patient, I would think of what Dr, Wolf would have given them. Dr. Stine's approach is very different, for ulcers Dr. Wolf would give them NaCl ointment and just let them heal over time. Dr. Stine burned 4 holes in the eye so that it would "heal faster". She also does skin grafts and corneal transplants. I didn't see her do them my self, but I saw the patients come in for their re-check.  It was really cool, and made me re-consider ophthalmology for my future. Then Dr. Wolf wouldn't have to change his practice name! There was one dog that came in that had cataract surgery and and a complication needed a corneal transplant, and then on top of that her retina detached! The tech and eye did an ERG to see how much of the retina was still attached and her reading was 12 in the bad eye, and 151 in the good eye. Dr, Stine had to tell her owner that after everything she went through, she will still be blind in that eye!
