Today I was in dermatology from 8:53 until 4:50. The vet didn't start seeing appointments until 10, so I helped her tech, Kristen, go through the new allergy medications they received. They use a medication that can be put in under the animals tongue, it comes in three different strengths to get the animals used to it. Dr. Znajda's first appointment was a new client; it was a cat that had an ear mass. Dr. Znajda thought it looked cancerous so she aspirated it while I tried to hold the cat still. The cat shook it's head and blood got everywhere! After I cleaned the blood off my scrub top, I looked at slides taken from the cats feet and saw yeast. I think dermatology is very interesting! I held a couple more dogs while Dr. Znajda looked in their ears, none were as exciting till the last dog. The last dog took three of us to hold down!
